JESSICA SALOMONE

Jessica has been designing beautiful spaces since 2011. She cultivated a love of art and design early in childhood- partly through her environment growing up surrounded by a talented and hardworking family of florists and landscape specialists. She was also shaped greatly by her mother, who was not only a chemist, but also a skilled seamstress, an avid crafter and gardener. Supplied with a curious and analytical mind, Jessica not only immersed herself in the beauty of nature and textiles, but she also was keenly interested in figuring out how things worked and how to improve their functionality.

This early experience and environment served as a precursor for finding her inner voice and overall vision as a designer and skilled interpreter of her client’s needs and dreams. Prior to founding Lotus and Lilac, Jessica studied Psychology and English Literature at George Mason University. She also worked as a visual designer, buyer and floral designer at a garden center before returning to school to study Interior Architecture at the Art Institutes. During this time, she began working for a high-end residential design firm where she gained invaluable experience working with clients, architects and contractors on projects from initial concept to project completion.

Her aesthetic is a unique convergence of the inspirations she encounters in nature, other cultures in the world and in her daily life as an artist, wife and mother. She applies this perspective, as well as her ability to truly listen to her client’s needs, to each project.

Jessica engages her clients in a collaborative partnership in order to create spaces that are functional, but also embody their unique history and essence.

CHRIS SALOMONE

Christopher grew up in the Philadelphia Area and graduated from West Chester University in December of 2008. He moved to Northern Virginia the following summer where he served as a public school teacher at the elementary levels and as a swimming coach.

Christopher met Jessica in early 2011 and quickly grew to appreciate Jessica’s many unique talents. In 2016, a year after Jessica gave birth to their daughter Lilith, Christopher resigned as a public school teacher to focus on helping Jessica achieve her business and creative aspirations, as well as finding a renewed focus on the athletes in his swim club. Christopher spent the next two years learning all he could about the design industry and working to constantly improve Lotus’ systems and operations as they acquired employees in Virginia.

Christopher works diligently behind the scenes coordinating the logistics of all of their design projects, ensuring that all aspects of the business run smoothly. He also devotes his time in the evenings to encourage young athletes as the head coach of a local swim club in the Philadelphia area.
