THE DESIGN GOAL

After living with a cramped shower and narrow bathroom for 15 years….. our clients desired an open, airy bathroom with a large shower and an open floor plan. They wanted to take advantage of the light from their existing skylight. We also wanted to ensure the vanity felt integrated into their bathroom, not the bedroom! See the photos below to see what I mean!

THE DESIGN CHALLENGES

In order to create a larger shower, walls needed to be reconfigured. We had to borrow space from the linen closet and the adjacent laundry room, but it was definitely worth it! The vanity also felt isolated from the bathroom and the carpet in this area was far from ideal.

Take a look at the before photos below.

“Thank you so much for all of your design insight and hard work. We LOVE our new bathroom!”

THE DESIGN COMPLETION

We removed the existing linen closet and borrowed space from the laundry room to increase the size of the shower. We also created a pony wall between the bath tub and the vanity to let more light in the space. This helped create an open, cohesive floor plan. We also removed a portion of the wall by the toilet and added French Doors to separate the space from the master bedroom. Installing a long, neutral modern tile on the floor connected the space, and utilizing the same accent tile and color scheme created balance and movement throughout the bathroom.
